Côte de Nuits

The Côte de Nuits is one of the world's references for the production of great red wines. Most of the different municipalities located between Dijon and Corgoloin are known all over the world. This strip of 20 km long, often no more than 200 to 300 meters wide, can today safely be called the number 1 in the world.

Nowhere else does one succeed in producing such a great diversity of wines of such a high level from 1 blue grape. White wines are also produced to a limited extent from Chardonnay and even Aligoté, which can also be good, but it is mainly the cradle of Pinot Noir.

The vineyards of the Côte de Nuits are home to a great wealth of appellations that make the whole world dream, such as the well-known Grand Crus below; Richebourg, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Romanée-Conti, Musigny, Echezeaux, La Romanée, La Tâche, Clos de Vougeot and so on.

But the wines of the municipal appellations with their numerous 1er Crus are also at a lonely high level among the best winegrowers. For the smaller fairs, there are the wines of the Hautes Côtes de Nuits from slopes usually on the plateaus at an altitude between 300 and 400 meters. They are wines with character but with less refinement than the wines from the lower Côtes.

Did you know that between the 6th and 15th centuries, entire monastic communities patiently developed methods for cultivating the Burgundian vines? These skills have been passed down from generation to generation to the present day. It must be said that in the past 25 years a new generation has emerged that has completely revived the terroir of this region. Today, this dynamism is spread throughout the region, with the result that the interest in these exemplary wines has never been greater. Rightly so!
