The champagne house Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, both wine merchants from Aachen. William Deutz learned to make Champagne at Bollinger and there he met Pierre Geldermann.
The passion for quality and the knowledge of the markets ensured that Champagne Deutz was drunk by presidents, kings and other emperors from the very beginning. Impressive are not only the wines, but also the cellars, where tens of thousands of bottles of wine mature at a constant temperature of 9°C.
Champagne Deutz has contracts with various winegrowers and thus has grapes available from a total of 190 hectares of vineyards. They own 43 ha of this. The annual production amounts to approximately 1,500,000 bottles and their Champagnes are distributed worldwide in the top gastronomy.
Since 1993 the house has been owned by Louis Roederer, but under Fabrice Rosset it sails completely its own course. The Deutz Brut Classic with its fine mousse, mature freshness and long aftertaste is an absolute classic among Champagnes and is made from 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier. It matures for a minimum of 3 years “sur lattes”. Their top cuvée, which is only made from the harvest of one particular very good year (Millésimé), was named after its founder and is the cuvée 'William Deutz'.
For those who love a Blanc de Blancs, there is their fabulous Amour de Deutz.
