The domain of the Moutard family, a house with a very long tradition, has been located since 1642 in Buxeuil in the Aube department, the southernmost part of the Champagne region.
Old cellar books record their activities as winegrowers and are evidence of a family tradition that has been going on for centuries. In this region, the conditions are ideal for the production of sparkling wines. The climate is not too hot, so that the base wines do not have too much alcohol.
The soil is composed of a mixture of clay and limestone on which Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive. And in the cellars there is a constant temperature of between 10 and 11 ° C with a humidity of 70 to 90%, which is important for the maturation of the wines.
Moutard's Champagnes are very popular with a wide audience because they are less tight and therefore fuller and fruitier. This is also due to the large proportion of Pinot Noir in their Brut Grande Cuvée, which is even made exclusively from this grape. The consistent quality completes the picture.
